StopGap provides a specialist year
long course for young people aged between 16-24 years with
Aspergers Syndrome, social communication difficulties and
associated emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Learners may also have additional
needs such as mental health issues.
StopGap offer a supportive environment
where learners are able to reach their full potential further their
abilities, gain personal, social and life skills and follow a
tailored vocational programme to support their needs.
Learners can also work towards the
NOCN qualification at levels 1 and 2. These are equivalent to
GCSE’s and are personalised, focusing on vocational, life and
social skills.
Cost:
Nothing for the learner. Learners are
funded through approval from a local
authority panel. Potential learners
must have social and communication
difficulties, be able to take
qualifications at level 1 or 2 and must also be unable to access
local college courses. All potential learners are required to
participate in an interview process and attend 'taster days' so
their suitability for the course can be assessed and the
paperwork
prepared for the local authority
panel.
